“People who love to eat are always the best people.” – Julia Child

We have to agree with Julia Child on this one!  We are willing to bet that if she’d grown up in or around Albemarle Plantation, all of her recipes would have a coastal twist!  Winter is definitely the season for comfort food so we have compiled a few of our favorites with a coastal twist for your pleasure.  Enjoy!

We all know that chicken pot pie is always a crowd-pleaser but why not mix it up by substituting the chicken for jumbo lump crab meat? The crabmeat will add a bit more sweetness to the pie, and if you are really up for a change, add some lemon zest.  Crab Pot Pie will be your new favorite go to winter meal.

Tuna Noodle Casserole has come a long way since our mamas used to make it!  It just goes to show, you can really put anything in a casserole! Tuna is an unexpected ingredient, but when paired with noodles, lemon, leeks, butter and cheese, the flavors will come together to create a tasty combination that is sure to WOW even the pickiest of eaters.

Who says mac and cheese is a kids’ food?!  Certainly not us; and certainly not when it is Lobster Mac and Cheese!  All of our favorite things in one dish!  Making it is as simple as dressing up your run of the mill mac and cheese recipe with some freshly cooked lobster meat. This recipe also allows for adding other spices and different cheeses, like Gruyere, to perfectly pair with the lobster flavor.

Running low on time or want to make a meal ahead of time and just pop it in the over when it’s time for dinner?  Then we have the one dish recipe of your dreams.  Cod and Creamed Spinach Casserole is the perfect weeknight recipe that is both simple and delicious!

Stew is the ultimate comfort food for the winter season, so why not add some fresh clams to it…and garlic toast for dipping? With Spanish style flavor and spicy chorizo, your taste buds will not be disappointed with Clam Stew and Garlic Toast!

Craving something a little more rich and creamy than a stew?  You will not be disappointed with Salmon Chowder with Chives!  The creamy deliciousness of this chowder will leave you wanting more! Using salmon, vinegar and chives gives this recipe just the right amount of seaside flavor.

If one of your New Year’s resolutions was to cook more or to take advantage of all the amazing options we have for fresh seafood in our area, you are all set to get started!  Bon appetit!
