Exciting news, the 2019 Albemarle Plantation budget included funding for a large project at the marina. The main marina project this year is the continuation of the re-decking effort that started in 2015. To date, the main deck out to the individual docks D and C have been re-decked, and A and B docks remain. And this year, B Dock is up!!
The labor is being provided by our own grounds maintenance team under the supervision of Randy Tetterton and Brett Damron. The new deck boards arrived in early January, and the crew started work on the docks on January 14th,
Re-docking has included great effort from the residents as well!! A call was put out for volunteers in December, and over 30 folks signed up, showing their dedication to keeping Albemarle Plantation looking great.
The volunteers inspected and cleaned the pedestals, including power-washing them in 34-degree weather! They also removed unnecessary wires and light harnesses, which will be re-placed with LED lights. Additional repair parts needed are on order and repair efforts will resume then — working to fix electrical connections, replacing broken parts, wiring harnesses, and painting the pedestals so they will look like new when reinstalled.
The pedestals will be reinstalled after the re-decking team finishes their work in just 6-8 weeks bringing boats back to their home at B Dock sometime in March.
