The local farmers’ markets are gearing up to open for the season. Below are the dates, times, and places you can get some home-grown produce, purchase some artisan crafts, and meet your neighbors — all while supporting your community.

Farmers Market at the AP Garden Center

  • Opening Tuesdays in May
  • Marshall Bateman will return with his produce

Hertford Farmers Market

  • Run by the Perquimans High School Future Farmers of America students
  • Opens Saturday, June 3
  • Hours are every Saturday from 8 a.m. to noon
  • Located at the Coastal Carolina Family Practice on Church Street (tentative new location)

Edenton Farmers Market

  • Open every Wednesday and Saturday from May through December
  • Has two locations and times  Saturdays from 8 a.m. to noon at 730 N. Granville St. in Edenton (near Walgreens)
  • Wednesdays from 3-7 p.m. at 200 N. Broad St., Edenton (opposite St. Anne’s Church)

Elizabeth City Farmers Market

  • Opens Saturday, May 6
  • Hours are every Saturday from 8 a.m. to noon
  • Located at the Mariner’s Wharf Park, S. Water Street, Elizabeth City
