Months of planning and recent fund-raising are about to pay off, as the Albemarle Plantation Dog Park will soon be built and opened for use by resident dogs and their owners.
The Dog Park Committee completed its research and planning and made an initial proposal to the Board of Directors at their December work session. Additional information and adjustments were made to the proposal, and it was formally approved at the January 2020 Board meeting.
Approval was announced at the Annual Meeting along with the welcome news that APH II would match donations up to $7,500. Its support underscores the value of this new amenity for the continued development of Albemarle Plantation.
As of this writing, donations totaling $3,200 have been received and the Wine Raffle for the Dog Park netted an additional $3,400. With a final push over the last week of February and early March, the $7500 mark is within reach. With the APH II match, the project with a budget of $15,000 will kick-off.
The Dog Park Committee will continue fund-raising efforts to provide additional landscaping, dog park features, such as obstacle course equipment, an educational component, and more.
The goal is SIMPLE: Create a dog park amenity that the entire community can be proud of!
Materials will be ordered in March, with construction to begin as soon as the weather allows. The park will likely require most of the spring for completion.
